Earthenware Tableware | Flatware with Black Handle
Mediterranean Entertaining with Zara Home
The balcony of this apartment is really special and something entirely new to me, coming from Chicago. Since I’ve been renting a fully-furnished apartment, I didn’t bring any furniture with me when I moved. With that being said, I wanted to bring some life to the space with simple, and affordable, accessories for a dinner party I hosted this past weekend. It’s incredible how a tablecloth can set the vibe for an event.
Zara Home has always been a great resource for affordable pieces for the home; an easy way to change for the seasons and special occasions. I wanted to create a table that was simple and light that allowed the food and conversation to breathe. An extension of the true Mediterranean ethos of breaking bread with friends. This checkered tablecloth felt fresh and reminiscent of Summer picnics while my tableware, an opportunity to showcase the fresh food. I cut a few branches from the elder-flower tree in front of my apartment and placed them in a glass vase (similar option) that matched perfectly.
Coincidentally, I purchased my flatware two years ago at Zara Home in Greece and it’s such a classic design that it’s still available on their website. Other pieces I’ve had my eye on? This olive green tablecloth, this water pitcher with woven detail, this folding tray for breakfast in bed and this raffia trivet.
