Weekend Recap and Kitchen Concept

Miscellaneous

Good Morning! How was everyone’s weekend? As you know, our summer guest has officially arrived. Petar’s 13 year old brother is staying with us from Europe and in the meantime, we’re trying to find a happy balance between being the cool brother and sister-in-law and not being too over protective. This is a foreign country to him, after all!

So while I’m making lunches and packing snacks, going to class and working; I’m also trying to squeeze in some posts for all you loves! P.S. Kudos to all you mamas out there! Sincere appreciation.

One of my latest projects for class was to create a kitchen layout and concept. Twist my arm, would you? Heaven. I was initially inspired by this kitchen that was recently featured in House Beautiful, and even though it has a very neutral color palette, there’s still enough going on with textures, decor and furniture to keep the space fresh and entertaining.

I love the black laquer painted cabinets in Farrow & Ball’s Pitch Black. This is an easy DIY and can transform the room. I would make sure to do this in a kitchen with lots of light.

And this is how the process continued….

The kitchen with fixtures and material:

White subway tile, Weck jars, Carrera marble, Matisse still life, farm sink and an olive cheese board for those late night frommage snackings.

…and the eat-in nook

Rustic with a grand chandelier just does it for me. Not to mention the antelope rug to add some texture!

What do you all think? Are you bored with the limited color palette or is it still captivating enough with an understated elegance?

I’m usually the bright bold colored person not much in my home that is neutral zone but I definitely like this understated elegance. Thanks for inspiring a different viewpoint.
