The Everygirl Event at Apple

Miscellaneous

Good Morning! I was going to share with you a review of my Pure Barre class experience this morning…BUT I had so much fun at last night’s event with The Everygirl that it’s taking first priority on NoMad Luxuries today.

I’m sure you all know of The Everygirl…and if you don’t. Well, shame on you. The Everygirl is a girl’s best friend. Seriously. She tells you what’s going on in the world, introduces you to other female entrepreneurs and inspires you daily from home decor to financial advice. It’s the real deal. So when I saw that The Everygirl was hosting an event with Apple about blogging and branding, I signed right up.

Danielle and Alaina, founders of The Everygirl, hosted the event and were absolutely adorable. Besides the abundance of information, which we will get into later, the setting was casual and real. There was no lecturing but rather realistic guidance that hard work will pay off. What if you don’t know certain things? Like Photoshop for example. Well, you can learn. Danielle managed to teach herself graphic design, Photoshop and other creative software essential for blogging. So roll up your sleeves and get a no-chip for goodness sake!

I won’t share ALL the details of what we learned last night, you’ll have to attend a future event and listen to these ladies speak. But I will share with you some of my favorite lessons from last night because there was so much goodness happening in that room. Your welcome!

  • Make sure your photos are always uploaded in the same width
  • Know your skills and the ones you might not have (yet…)
  • Use Google Analytics to track how your blog is doing. Use these numbers to adjust appropriately.
  • Have a schedule for your posts and try to have posts prepared a week ahead of time.
  • Post daily (5 days a week) to create loyal readers
  • Work with other bloggers and have contributors or guest series to collaborate and build awareness.
  • Create a media kit with info about your blog and analytics.
  • Constantly research by reading other blogs and know what’s out there.
  • Network, Network, Network!

I stopped to chat with Alaina and Danielle afterword and they were sweet and honest. They were happy to answer any questions and give tips. It’s nice to know we ladies have each other’s back. Cuz’ we all know how difficult it can be to be a successful and aspiring woman. We might as well throw on a fabulous pair of shoes and walk this road together!

I love this sentence “We might as well throw on a fabulous pair of shoes and walk this road together!” Couldn’t agree more! Last night was so informative and entertaining. Lots to think about now!

I was there too–great description of the event. Glad other people got as much out of it as I did–and was a great way to find new blogs to read! xoxo
