This year, I made a resolution to keep pushing myself, even if it meant out of my comfort zone… For as long as I can remember, I always managed a poker face, held my head up high and rarely asked for help. I was so terrified of showing the world the slightest sign of weakness, that I managed to cover up my insecurities with an “I got this” attitude. Even with a tough shell on the outside, like everyone else, I have my own self-doubts. Who doesn’t? But, I feel that as you age, you become more comfortable and confident in your own skin. I’m just getting there, but I have a feeling this is going to be an on-going process.
Today’s post is not just about putting something sexy on, even though that does help, but it’s about owning it. Your emotions. Your weaknesses. Your strengths. Baring it all. Good and bad. By the time the nerves and hesitations passed, I felt so empowered, and strong, in my own skin during this shoot. I strongly encourage all you ladies to give it a try. At least once!
Showing vulnerability doesn’t mean you’re weak, but that you’re strong enough to admit you’re not perfect. And that’s ok. Come to think of it, if you’re not willing to show you’re vulnerable side once in a while, you never know what opportunity you might miss. Since Valentine’s day is tomorrow, why not do something nice for yourself? Treat yourself to fresh flowers, where that daring shade of lipstick or sit in your pjs and eat a tub of ice cream. Be authentic and don’t be afraid to let your guard down. Xx
