Interiors

galley 1 800I’ve been searching the web for major kitchen inspiration, specifically galley kitchens. A while back I mentioned I will be redoing the kitchen in my childhood home, that I now rent out. Since it’s a small space, the main issue is storage and creating a functional working space. Staying in an affordable budget is ideal and since this is home is a rental, choosing finishes that will stand to wear and tear.

Surprisingly, there’s a lot of inspiration out there, as you can imagine. This kitchen, was one of my favorite designs. It’s simple, neutral and is modern with traditional elements. I thought about going high-gloss cabinets but realized it wouldn’t be true to the character of the home. I’ll share more about the concept in a future post!

We’re in the beginning stages of picking out finishes and working with our contractor to find the best and most efficient layout for the tiny space. I’ve kept the original hardwood throughout the house but the kitchen, we recently discovered, doesn’t have hardwood. I’ve got my eye on these tiles and love how the long planks will create an elongated look and create a sense of depth in the space.

I’ll be sharing before and afters and, of course, documenting the process along the way. In the meantime, I’ll be sifting through inspiration to pick and choose my favorite aspects of each and put them together to create the concept behind our little renovation.

Here’s some amazing kitchens that pack a ton of style into a small space!

I love a bit of open shelving in a galley, makes the space look larger. Also, if you include special lighting and not builder grade, that will make the room stand out (o.co has fab lighting at great prices. You don’t have to skimp on lighting). Good luck, hope we get to see some photos of the finished space!
