Like clockwork, when the days get longer and slightly warmer, I crave a new, fresh look. Don’t misunderstand, I crave a change rooted far deeper than a new haircut, but often times, that’s the simplest and quickest fix. I’m eager these days, for Spring, for a revival in so many ways. For shorter hemlines, light-weight materials that show movement…simply, for more movement. In every sense of the word.

For now, a shorter haircut and a moto jacket I’ve been wearing far too often will have to suffice. The unexpected suede, in a deep, midnight blue is a color I’ve been repeatedly drawn to. It’s deep and saturated and dare I say, adds more interest than black? It also happens to perfectly match this dress I picked up at the Zara sale; a trapeze dress with a dropped waistline and pleats for days. It reminds me of something I would have worn as a young girl, and yet here I am, inching toward 30 and sporting a similar style. I cinched the dress to create more of a waistline but happen to love it just as much without.

There are times I simply want to get lost in my outfits- swallowed up by yards and yards of fabric. The bigger, cozier and loosely-fitting, the better. This dress allows for either option. I paired silver accessories to add a metallic pop against the deep blue and, by no surprise, am wearing my favorite purse. Needless to say, the purse barely fits any of my daily essentials but it’s so easy on the eyes and matches just about anything for me to mind. And so I downsize my list of “necessities” just to be able to have this silver number dangling from my shoulder.

And so, in hopes of re-branding, myself that is, I wear a shorter, fresher hair style and a dress that moves in ways I hope to, soon.
