I’ve always believed that life is about the little things. Details that create a larger picture, a moment in time. While it’s so easy to get caught up in to-do’s and big goals, sometimes the simplest of gestures, is what brings the most satisfaction. Buying a fresh bouquet of flowers every week, indulging in a new magazine, gobbling up a meal with seasonal produce, walking slower, waking up early and having a few quiet moments to yourself, steaming, hot baths, a fresh manicure. All these small indulgences make me feel more productive, put together and make my day all that much more decadent. And who doesn’t need a bit of decadence in their life? I stop by my favorite florist in the city, A New Leaf, just about every week. Just walking in to the fragrant shop, full of colors and textures is a sensory feast. I’ve realized, over the years, that I am a person that is significantly affected by my surroundings. Both good and bad. I pick up on vibes and they are hard to shake off. So, whenever I can, I desperately try to surround myself with beautiful things and positive people. Flowers, among them. Mr. Palmer joined me on my walk and he seemed to agree. Flowers are always a good idea.
Lately, I’ve been really taking some risks with my wardrobe- not just wearing what I think is “appropriate”, but wearing what I like and feel good in. And that doesn’t mean it has to be expensive. I’m loving the combination of navy and black and I came across both this navy, ribbed sweater which is so comfy, and this lace-y little number at Marshalls. I can thrown on a pair of heels and head to dinner or I can pair the outfit with my new Nike Internationalist sneakers and wear it on a casual Sunday, enjoying the city. The juxtaposition seems to work perfectly and I can’t get enough of these shoes. They are so comfortable and the colors go with just about everything!
