First Friday Outfit to Room Series

Interiors

Good Morning lovelies! Happy Friday! To celebrate the beginning of the month, and every month from here on out, NoMad Luxuries has teamed up with fellow blogger Heather from DiSabella Design to bring you a very new and exciting Outfit to Room Series!

first friday

We tend to be drawn to colors and patterns that we would wear on an every day basis. So you love an outfit? Why not bring that concept into your home and create a room around it? Exactly our thoughts. Every first Friday of the month, we’ll be sharing fun and trendy fashion and ways to apply that through home decor, furniture and paint color. We’ll throw in an occasional entertaining idea here and there to keep things fresh. Curious yet?

Let’s have a look…

I was inspired by this dress from the Proenza Schouler 2009 Spring Collection.

black see through

I’m digging everything about this outfit! The minty skirt is right on trend and the leather zipper that runs from top to bottom adds just the right edge factor. A black leather collar and details add a roughness to this otherwise feminine dress. And the see-through vinyl-esque top? Well, that’s just the cherry on top. Metallic pewter striped heels act as a neutralizer and balance all the different elements going on in the dress.

And here’s how I turned that outfit into a beachy living room….

living room minty cool

This room came together so organically and it all stemmed from that fabulous minty flat-weave rug. This was a One Kings Lane find and I still regret not snatching it up for my own living room. I added small metallic accents like the Moroccan pouf in Rose Gold and the gold side table to add warmth to the room and a touch of luxury.

The black zipper of the room comes in the form of a parson style console and the abstract painting from West Elm. The two woven baskets can double as storage for extra pillows and blankets and give an organic feel to the room. I of course MUST include a bone-inlay piece of furniture in one way or another. It adds just the perfect touch of global. Until I can get my pretty little hands on a piece of my own, I will be living vicariously through my mood boards!

I kept the sofa neutral in this bright and colorful living space and added pops of color with throw pillows that can be easily interchanged throughout the seasons. That vintage cane settee is everything. It brings the whole room back to earth and adds a natural element I love so much. It feels lived in and adds some history to the room.

The lucite side table mimics the vinyl portion of the dress and doesn’t take up too much visual space in the room. The simple lamps bring the mint around full circle and a fun photo of pristine blue waters makes the space a bit less serious. Finally the lemon tree to  transport me to faraway lands…

Want to bring this look home with you? Literally?
