Fall Foliage

Weekend

How was everyone’s weekend? This weekend we managed to finish all of our errands and have time to “play” and enjoy the brisk fall weather.

Saturday called for errands and a DIY. Our apartment has a gas fireplace but no mantel (I’d like to speak to the person responsible for that genius idea!) and frankly there’s something cozy and inviting about flames flickering over nostalgic pieces and photos. Not to mention, it’s great for holidays and small, tasteful displays. In other words, we needed a mantel. Since it’s a rental, Petar and I made our way to The Container Store for their shelving sale (25% off and still going on now…) to purchase the white profile shelf in 48″. After an hour of wrestling with our metal wall studs, we managed to create a faux mantel.

I purchased mini pumpkins and some spray paint for a quick fall DIY this week. Stay tuned for photos and some sophisticated fall decor!

Sunday was filled with outdoor activity- The Fall Fest at The Grove was a close drive from the city but still felt far enough away. The autumn colors and scents were at its best and even though it was cold, we bundled up and still managed to enjoy the fresh air.

It was a fantastic Sunday- perfect for this time of year. I found some time to bake apples for a healthy and sweet dessert. Keep your eye out this week for the simple and delicious recipe.

What did everyone do on their weekend? Do tell!

Xx
