CandyLand Girl’s Room Design

Interiors

Good Morning darlings! I am burnt out today- hoping I can make it through today and it’s all smooth sailing for the rest of the week. This morning, I want to share with you my design for my client’s daughter’s room. The same client that wanted their sun room redone, here.

A little background information for ya… My client’s expecting her second baby in October and it’s another girl! So much fun! She already has an adorable little daughter and her bedroom will be a shared nursery, with hopes to grow into a shared space down the road. Until then, we really needed to make the most use out of the space and come up with different “areas” to make it feel bigger!

With that being said, I broke it down into smaller mood boards so we can see the details. My clients had already painted the room a lavender purple before they asked me to take on the project. I wanted to play off that and make the room bright and fun: almost candy-like! Have a look!

The frames in the upper right hand corner are from Ikea and I wanted to give them a new look with a fresh coat of bright fuschia paint to house some vintage Sesame Street prints my client had from her childhood! How about that cotton candy pillow? I’m obsessed!

The storage box bench will get a coat of that cotton candy blue paint and some Sunbrella white fabric and fuschia pom-pom trim.

The play area will be from the foot of the bed to the closet. A space for reading, drawing and playing with her toys. Get those creative juices going! Lucite custom-made bookshelves will hang on the wall and display her reading collection. Perhaps she’ll write her very first book in this room! A custom-made bulletin board will use the leftover fabric from the curtains to tie everything in!

The new baby will have her own wall and “area” carved out but the decor will still match into the rest of the room. The Ikea Malm dresser will be hacked into a changing table and storage for the baby’s clothes. Adding some fun hardware will step it up a notch! I wanted to keep this as simple as possible to create a neutral haven for sweet dreams! The basket will be used for a hamper for both the girls!

And here’s the overall look- scrunched together! I can see this room easily transitioning over to a big girl’s room for the two sisters! So exciting!
