A Pinched Nerve and New Curtains!

Interiors

Good Morning loves! I’m sorry it’s been a bit quiet over on the blog this week. I finally found out that my “tension headaches” are due to an irritated/pinched/cranky nerve in my neck. It’s not exactly pleasant; I get tingling on my right side, and I have to sit a certain way all day but on the plus side, I do have to get a massage every two weeks. Doctor’s orders. I’m hoping this upcoming vacation distresses me and my uncooperative nerve!

We made our first “big” purchase this week for the new condo. When we moved in, the previous owners left us all window treatments. And while they were nice, the rust color just wasn’t our thing. I actually passed them along to my mom where the color fits nicely with her decor!

With that being said, we needed some new curtains. I fell in love with this fabric over on One Kings Lane  and finally snatched it up today. They had 11 yards available and I needed 12. Talk about torture. I finally called and they were able to get an additional 13 yards! Yes, baby.

Nomad Luxuries an image of Moroccan inspired fabric.

If you’re interested, OKL still has yardage available at a discounted price or for future reference, the fabric is by Thomas Dare and is called Latora. It is a 100% linen and I love how the tan almost resembles a gold from a distance. It also comes in a turquoise/aqua and a mulberry. I’ve only found it to the trade but I’m sure with some digging, you could get lucky.

We decided to purchase enough to create curtains for both the living and dining room. At first I was a bit skeptical, but now I feel good about the cohesive look in the large, open spaces. The fabric is quite nomadic, but with a luxurious touch. Petar loves the fabric as much as I do, which makes me feel better about spending $50 a yard…. yes, I know. I told you it was a splurge.

Have any of you over-indulged in textiles? If you’ve made your own curtains, I would love to hear your advice. I’m hunting for a great tutorial!

Xx

A great choice Yana and I agree it does look a bit gold and very nomadic. I love it. Hope you feel better..massages will be great. 😉

Oh have I ever splurged on fabric! Love fabric.
I still have the previous owners’ window dressings in one room … um from 9 years ago now … and bought new fabric to make a valance many years ago. Maybe it’s time to do it. I’ve made valances but never made curtains, in need of good tutorial too! I know one of our fellow #BYW students has a blog about her curtain-making business, I think her name is Jann Newton and she’s somewhere in central IL.
