After a much-needed hiatus (and a failed hard-drive), I’m reminded that some of the best moments are the ones that go undocumented. Much like the Sunday afternoon I spent at the Art Institute gardens swaying to an impromptu milonga. Thanks to the couple that brought their radio with a melange of music to dance tango in the park. I spend most of my time day dreaming, blissfully lost in faraway places- ones that I’ve been to and others that I long to see, that often times, I forget what a fabulous city Chicago is. Especially in the summer- when the days are long and the nights are warm. I envy the fact that these two simply allow the music to move them. A step, twist and twirl to get them through the day…perhaps, even through life. Unexpected moments like these call for a pause. So we took a break from shooting and simply watched; listened to the jazz-like tunes and watched the sun shimmer on these two bodies, moving as one. The music, the trees, the warm wind…it was like a scene from a movie.
A pause, a long, extended breath is sometimes all it takes to revive creativity and passion. I savored this afternoon like a refreshing and effervescent glass of rose. And I desperately wanted to step in even not knowing the steps. So instead, I swayed in this printed dress from Banana Republic- hands in my pockets and eyes closed. I let the music transport me and the sun warm me. This dress is so light and fresh- perfect for a spin or two. The blue and yellow color combination fit right in to the blooming gardens. I paired the dress with these two-tone neutral sandals and my favorite sunglasses from Ditto.
This blissful and unexpected afternoon reminded me to not always have my head buried in my phone, updating social media rather than actually living life around me. There are special moments everywhere you turn, you just have to be willing to see them!
Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! As always, thanks for reading. Grateful for all of you! Xx
