First Friday Outfit to Room Series: December

Interiors

first friday

Happy Friday! It’s December and the Holidays are officially here. I absolutely love this time of year. Who doesn’t? Time for decorating the tree, sipping hot cocoa and playing in the snow. It’s when adults can show their childish enthusiasm and when everyone can believe in miracles.    It’s the first Friday of the month and we’re sharing a Holiday edition of the Outfit to Room Series with NoMad Luxuries and DiSabella Design.

I came across Phillip Lim’s Fall Collection for 2013 and I loved the white on white. This was a modern version of a sugarplum fairy. Layers and textures all dancing in shades of white are so perfect for this time of year.

This immediately inspired me for a modern foyer, all with a chic touch and layers of white and ecru.

Often times white can look sterile in a space, but by layering different shades (yes, there are shades) of white and adding textures, you can make a bright and crisp space feel welcoming! I imagined this in an urban loft fit for the working girl.

Since it is December and the Holiday Season, a white Christmas tree was a fun little addition to add to the space. This beautiful tree comes in different sizes and I love the modern twist on something so traditional. I wanted everything to have it’s space, no clutter here, so my jumping off point was this jaw-dropping console. The scale-like design in pewter added the perfect hint of metallic to the space all the while concealing all the extra purses and shoes clutter.

Above the console, a Venetian-style mirror with similar scalloped edges is simple enough to compliment the console. While most Venetian-style mirrors have etchings (and are beautiful), I liked the simplicity of this particular mirror. And purely because I’m obsessed with this Jonathan Adler Muse vase, it had to make it’s way into this monochromatic space. I think this vase would be perfect for a white peony or a few white rose buds. White on white, all the way!

The geometric pattern of the Viesso runner is what attracted me the most. Most of the furniture in the space is either square or rectangular and I wanted to continue to follow that theme. The details of rounded edges in pulls and the mirror, simply soften the space up and add a bit of a feminine touch. Again, this runner has shades of white and grounds the room together.

I chose a beautiful photograph of the rooftops of Paris- not only for it’s color but also for a touch of glam. Speaking of glam, how about that chandelier? So simple and elegant but such a statement piece. Martha did good, real good! Finally, a small detail but not to be overlooked, is the umbrella stand from Wayfair. Another way to stay organized and not sacrifice on style.
