Why You Should Own a Co-ord

There’s a reason we tend to reach for the same pieces in our closet; we find a pairing that works, like that black skirt and leopard top, for example, and we reach for it time and time again. After taking stock of my own wardrobe, I noticed I primarily owned dresses. While you may not give it much thought, I realized it was because it was one item of clothing that I can throw on and have a “complete” look without the trial and error of what would make an entire outfit.

That’s why I was so excited and slightly relieved when co-ords became a trend this year. These two pieces, made for one another, make an entire outfit without the guessing game. You know they work together, but they can also be worn separately with something you already own in your closet. This allows you to maximize your wardrobe and create several different looks from only two pieces. A win, win in my opinion.

This stripe co-ord is from a recent brand I’ve discovered and happen to love, 1.State. They have great pieces for affordable prices! The pant set is a deep navy with a light blue and olive green stripe and it’s slighty over-sized, incredibly comfortable (and forgiving) and fresh. I’ve worn it both belted and cinched at the waist for a more fitted look or loose and over-sized like worn here. This is a great set that you can wear to meetings at the office and even cocktails or a date night after work. Not to mention, an easy outfit to transition from Summer into Fall depending on the colors you accessorize with.

What are your thoughts on co-ords? Do you like taking the guessing out of putting together an outfit or is it too matchy-matchy? I’d love to know- share in the comments below!
