Constantly in motion….I’m always longing to stand still but am in utter fear of complacency. Perhaps I’m worried I may actually like it. The simplicity. The extended pause. If I’m constantly moving, doing, going- it leaves little room for thought. And the chatter, up there, can be quite loud lately. So, I book trip after trip, over book my schedule and throw on pieces that look polished and put together even if I feel quite the opposite. For the longest time, I never understood why I strayed further away from color. It’s even slowly trickled from my wardrobe down to my home décor. And as I look at my ever-evolving style and how simplified and neutral it’s become, it’s starting to make sense. I’m grateful but I want more, more, more. Is that wrong? Maybe. I crave the whirlwind, the endless to-do lists and that slightly elevated level of stress. Are these growing pains? Wanting both or not knowing what you want at all? Perhaps, one day, I’ll give it all up and go open that bed and breakfast on a tiny Greek island or finally write that book while I sip on rose from an Italian cottage in the fields of Tuscany. Maybe sooner than later. But for now, I strive to exude calm, put-together and in control while I slowly unravel, revealing the things most important to me. For now, a neutral wardrobe to keep me forever in motion, will just have to do.
