New Piece and Color Dilemma

Miscellaneous

Good Morning! I know it’s been a while but I’ve been so busy at the new job and with my clients that it’s left little time for blogging. I will still try to write as often as I possibly can. Promise!

Today, I come to you with a new piece I found on Craigslist that I LOVE. I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed that I would come across a piece like this for a while. And it finally happened! The bamboo detailing and the cane accents with brass pulls. Yum!

I wanted a longer piece to ground the giant bare wall in our living room- and so this bamboo beauty needs a color. I was thinking of something more neutral to ground the rest of the space and our new colorful Persian rug. Thoughts that have recently come up- high gloss black, smoke grey, or white. I’m going to Brass-o those lovely pulls to add a gold touch as well.

I’m open to suggestions!

Excuse the I phone photos taken quickly this morning before I ran out of the house.

That actual post is what made me think of the smoke grey. I’ve never used oil-based paint and am a bit concerned painting indoors with it (I hear it has extremely strong odor) but was hoping to achieve the same look with additional primer and high gloss paint. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi Yana! The details on this piece are lovely. I think a warm white color would be very pretty with the brass hardware. I would recommend using a low-VOC eco paint with no odor if you’ll be painting indoors. Make sure to ask the salesperson at the local paint store to show you those types available in their product line. I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like when it’s done.

Hi Trisha- thank you for the suggestion! I definitely will ask for the low-VOC paint. Great thing to keep in mind when I’m ready to tackle the kitchen cabinets! Happy Holidays!
