Modern Tuscan Kitchen

Interiors

My mom has been wanting me to re-do their kitchen for quite a while now. We haven’t been able to pinpoint an exact “look and feel” my mom and stepdad wanted their kitchen to exude. After a ton of questions, and a bit of nagging on my part, we finally got down to business. I was able to create a moodboard that they both absolutely love. Since a kitchen makeover isn’t entirely in their budget, this project will have to be a slow one. Bits and pieces done here and there until we finally get to a finished room. Since most of the labor will be done by yours truly, a good chunk of change will be saved.

When I asked how they wanted to feel when in their kitchen- I kept hearing “warm, bright and sunny and serene”. They didn’t want a rustic look but wanted to feel as though they were somewhere in Italy. All lovely ideas and contradicting ones as well. To bring the look together, I went for a “Modern Tuscan” aesthetic.

To create a warm and cozy vibe, I want to create an eating nook. Add a settee and some additional chairs to give a casual eating area other than the dining room. Yellows, blues and stripes give a fresh Meditterranean look and artwork of herbs and fresh topiary plants bring the outdoors in. Bright white subway tiles, kitchen cabinets (repainted) and chrome details, bring brightness to the room. A pop of yellow paint to the walls will keep it sunny and infuse the room with warmth.
