Golden Globes 2014: Recap

Miscellaneous

There were quite a few best-dressed in my mind but over all I felt a bit underwhelmed with the evening’s selection. I was, however pleasantly surprised from a few unexpected ladies! Let’s get down to it, shall we?

red dresses

I absolutely loved the orange hue of the reds in these dresses and all three looked stunning. Emma Watson wore black trousers under her “dress” and while this might not be so age appropriate, I really like how she continues to push the envelope. Amy Adams rocked this deep V-cut dress and I love how the long chain necklace was so casual compared to her gown. I didn’t love her hair but overall, she looked fabulous. And what can I say about Lupita? Stu-nning! The cape, the silhouette, the color on her- impeccable. Definitely a best-dressed for me!

clad in black 2clad in black 1

You can never go wrong with black- timeless, elegant and slimming. Cate Blanchett has always been a style icon for me and I feel she dressed perfectly for being nominated (and winning) the Golden Globe that evening. Did you see the back of that dress? Wowza! Super sexy! Julianna Margulis’ dress was a perfect cut for her body and I love the cap sleeves with the deep v-cut. Not to mention, the gold coral-like appliques add a little something more to the elegant look. Amy Poehler looked stunning in this sleek and modern dress with cutouts. Sexy without showing too much. And Leslie Mann looked so good in this lace peplum gown- it fit her like a glove!

neutral territory

Michelle Dockery blew me away in this dress- the gold embellishments and the cut. Simply stunning! And Kate Beckinsale is smoking in this metallic number. I feel like we’ve seen her wear something like this before but she just looks to damn good to disregard.

color blocking

I thought Sandra Bullock looked beautiful in her color-block gown and while I’m not a big fan of Taylor Swift, I think she looked quite elegant in her choice for the evening.

pregnant and beautiful

We can’t forget the beautiful mamas-to-be. I love how the two embraced their pregnancy with such different styles and still looked beautiful. Olivia Wilde is smoking in her dress and will make any pregnant women reconsider her wardrobe, where Drew Barrymore went with something a bit more fun and flirtatious and I loved it. She looked proud and happy and well, that’s what it’s all about.
