Closet Revamp

Miscellaneous

This weekend Petar convinced me to tackle our closet and my wardrobe. Even though I was hesitant, I knew it had to be done. I seriously minimized my clothing and have become best pals with the consignment store. We moved around furniture; my first vintage purchase, ever, made its way into our closet; color coordinated and consolidated to make our closet easier to navigate. One day soon I hope to spend the entire day at the Container Store living out my organization fantasies. Until then, I’m proud of our first attempt!

Here’s a few tips on how to organize your closet and wardrobe–

1. Take Inventory:

This is a no-brainer. You’ll be surprised at what you actually have and if you’re guilty of repeat buying. This can get messy-remember to take everything out of your closet. It will make for a thorough job.

2. Discard:

If you haven’t worn it in 1-2 years, then find it a new home. I get it, some pieces you bought and are waiting for the perfect occasion to wear. You know what you can live with giving away. Spend a tiny fortune on your clothes like yours truly? Find a consignment store and earn some of that paycheck back.

Check out this Resale Shop Directory to find the nearest consignment store near you.

3. Color coordinate

Do you put out your outfit the night before? Well then, congratulations! I on the other hand, dress according to my mood in the morning.  It will make the process of dressing in the mornings much simpler, especially if you haven’t had your morning coffee yet.

If you really want to get creative- organize by clothing item AND color.

4. Keep a list:

You have a grocery list in the kitchen, right? There’s no way you can remember that one ingredient you’re missing. So, you write it down. Why not do the same for your closet? That way, you don’t impulsively buy and you only purchase items that add to your collection of pieces.

If that isn’t enough to get you going, take a peek at these fabulous photos for an extra dose of inspiration. A girl can dream, right?!
