What does the last Friday in August require other than a final summer outfit post? I’m sad as we inch our way closer to September, but I had a glorious summer that seemed to fly by all too fast. I did quite a bit of traveling this summer, visited with old friends, welcomed our little puppy, Palmer, to the family and reached some work milestones that I’m quite proud of. Not to mention, I’m grateful that the past two months have been filled with quality time with my husband. Of which we’ve had far too little of over the past year.

It was a fabulous couple of months that have made me feel grateful and more than ready for a seasonal reset. I can now welcome cooler days, spending more time at home, beginning new projects, reading more novels and traveling. My summer was satisfying, much like a ripened peach. I gobbled it all up, sweet nectar dribbling down my chin and yet, always hungry for more. Traveling to Greece this summer was a trip I desperately needed. Especially visiting my family’s town, a second home, where I have so many fond memories. It feels like a lifetime ago and I needed to reconnect with that part of me. That deep-rooted culture, a fearless and naive time. I needed to be reminded to enjoy. And enjoy I did.

These are my first pair of culottes and they will be worn well through fall. I feel effortlessly chic in them!  Give me pockets on anything and I’m pretty much sold. They are high-waisted, so they work especially well with crop tops, much like this summer knit. A low chunky heel to give me some height and the nude sandal elongates the leg even more. This outfit blended into the ancient stone walls of my favorite city in Greece, Nauplio. Once the capital, it now serves as a port and the quaintest of cities. There’s no easy way to get to it, a good 2 hour drive from Athens, through winding, mountain roads, but when you arrive, it’s well worth it. The sea, the fortress, the pezodromo streets dotted with restaurants and ice-cream shops. This is how I want to remember my summer- the meeting of two worlds. Old and new, ancient and modern. Balanced. I hope your summer was memorable and left you feeling rejuvenated and excited for the new season ahead.
